Hardwood Stairs Installation-refinishing
There are a few methods our stair installers use and you should know about.
Hardwood stairs installation can typically be a one-piece solid tread/riser. In this method of stair tread installation, we are speaking of wood stair installation of course. The tread is usually unfinished and will require sanding either before installation or after installation. Once sanded, the tread/riser can be sealed or stained. Please note, not every species of hardwood accepts stain. Make sure that if you choose to stain that your species accepts the color of choice. Once the sealer/stain dries, the treads/risers can top coated multiple times with polyrethane for protection against wear.
The second method of stair installation would be building the step/riser out of flooring of your choice. This process can take much more time depending on the size/type of floor being used. This floor is usually pre-finished, so once the installation is complete, the stairs are ready to use as soon as the glue dries.
Another method would be to have custom treads and risers installed. This option is required when you have a step or steps that have a radius turn to them. If you move forward with this method, a template of your step/stpes will be made and from there we can start the customization process. This process takes the longest, therefore you should plan and order ahead.
If you spend the time to get multiple bids for the work from our competitors, you will be pleased with the results and huge savings when comparing National floors to the other guys.
